Probably from the Patani/Kelantan area. Depicting a highly stylised Garuda. As the area was Islamized, the Hindu god Garuda was modified to the point where it took on the shape of a seated or squatting humaniod figure. The floral and geometric patterned design along with excellent silversmithing combine to create an exceptional keris handle. This same Wayang figure is depicted on a Kris handle in the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, seen here.
