The eagle has a frog in its claws which is “holding” a whale.
This comb was purchased out of the same collection and appears to be of the same vintage and by the same hand as the NWC bear comb on our website.
We believe this comb was created by the same hand as the sold NWC bear comb.
This comb has a price tag from The Olde Curiosity Shop in Seattle, Washington which was established in 1899.

The handle is composed of a figure with joined hands clasped over the torso, wearing a feather headdress. The rich brown patina dates the piece to the first half of the last century.
The Choco are a reclusive rainforest tribe, living relatively untouched by the 20th century and live in extended family groups rather than large communities.

This type of envelope-shaped hide container was used to hold everyday items and food. They were made in pairs and attached behind the saddle. A Native American version of a saddlebag.
The graphic, traditional design symbolizes features of the landscape. The use of negative space, and color scheme combine to create a bold, timeless artifact.
This example is stylistically similar to many Crow examples. It has good signs of use and wear.
Condition consistent with age and use.
