Glass beads, coconut shell, copper 1 cent coins, and string
9 x 3.25 in. / 23 x 8.5 cm
On custom display stand, 12 x 3.5 in. / 30.5 x 9 cm
Three coins are suspended from each strand of beads. The coins are embossed Nederlandsch Indie and dated 1855 through 1925.
There is no apparent way to suspend the piece. Nicely carved coconut shell with softened edges yet showing little sign of wear. The two large white beads, possibly from a nut, are so old the white part is powdery.
